Around New Years, 2008, I visited Calcutta, India to celebrate the season with friends and family in the city. I had the opportunity to tour the city during that time, taking in some of the amazing monuments dating to colonial times. As Calcutta was the capital of the British Empire in India, the most prominent landmark in the city is the remarkable Victoria Memorial, a mausoleum to Queen Victoria, the Empress of the British Empire.

I also visited some spectacular Anglican churches in the city, namely St. Paul's Cathedral and St. John's Church, both remarkable for their architecture and amazing artistry. Enjoy the sights of the city to the music of Dvorak's Symphony No. 8, Handel's Messiah and some haunting Gregorian Chants performed by the Benedictine monks of St. Michael's. Enjoy!
